Dibal Ranuh

Swarnadwipa, Pesenggiri Festival 2026

I Gusti Bagus Yulisthiadi Tegeh Budiagung Waruju Ranuh, S.Sn, M.Sn. — known in the creative world as Dibal Ranuh — is a Bali-born creative director, filmmaker, and founder of the Matahati Kitapoleng Foundation. His practice sits at the intersection of Nusantara tradition and contemporary visual exploration, weaving together performance art, film, and cross-disciplinary storytelling.

For Pesenggiri Festival 2026, Dibal returns as Artistic Director — this time to bring Swarnadwipa, a performance journey tracing Sumatra's ancient identity as the "Island of Gold" and a crossroads of the world's spice trade, to the festival's main stage.

A Storyteller of the Archipelago

Dibal's work is internationally recognized, with presentations spanning Italy (Venice Biennale, Latina Festivale Culturale Internazionale), Cambodia (Angkor Wat / UNESCO), India (Rishikesh International Yoga Festival), China (Xi'An International Festival), Latvia, Germany, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

He is known equally for his deep commitment to inclusive art — building creative space for disabled talent through Kitapoleng Foundation initiatives such as Roemah Kitapoleng and Warung Tuli, and through award-winning collaborations with the British Council.

His promotional film for The Marriott Hurun Lampung and Pesenggiri Festival has shaped the festival's visual identity since its earliest editions.

At Pesenggiri 2026

Through Swarnadwipa, Dibal will guide audiences through the layered history of Sumatra — from Buddhist pilgrimage and maritime trade to the meeting of cultures along the spice routes — staged in the open air of Lampung Marriott Resort & Spa with the Kitapoleng ensemble.

"Creating beauty through culture and collaboration."
